Aurora Straus, Next Car Racing Superstar – about how to engage Female Youth into Motorsport

At just 17 years old, Aurora Straus made her debut as the youngest Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge driver. Now only 19 and only in her seconds season competing in a professional sports car racing series, she is already leading in championship points! With a good chance of becoming the next motorsport superstar, she will be racing at the Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park, this Memorial Day weekend 2018.

But becoming a top race car driver is not her only ambition in life. She will soon attend Harvard’s Class of 2022 as a double-major in English Literature and Mechanical Engineering.

Further, Aurora is driven by the desire to engage more young people and especially girls and women into motorsport. And not only as drivers but also as a way to pursue STEM carriers in a great variety of professional fields.

With an entrepreneurial spirit that matches her ambition as a racecar driver, Aurora has already her own education programs going that brings Girl Scouts track side. The new female role model talks to Alexander Davidis, giving us a brief insight on the above during setup at Lime Rock.
